Glass mortar is a container for grinding experimental materials in experiments. It is equipped with a pestle and made of glass material. Used for grinding solid substances or mixing powdered solids. Its specifications are expressed by the size of the caliber.
Usage:
1.The mortar of different materials are selected according to the properties of the ground solids and the roughness of the products. Generally, ceramic or glass mortar are used commonly, iron mortar are used to grind hard solids, and agate or alumina mortar are used to grind less medicines very carefully. The basic principle of grinding is that the hardness of the object being grinded is smaller than that of the mortar. The best way to identify it is to scratch it on the mortar, so that the scratches on the glass mortar can not be grinded.
2. When grinding, the mortar should be placed on an object that is not easy to slide, and the grinding pestle should be kept perpendicular. Bulk solids can only be crushed before grinding. They can not be directly crushed with pestles. Otherwise, they will damage the mortar, pestle or splash the solids out. Explosive materials can only be crushed lightly, not ground. When grinding corrosive substances to the skin, thick paper or plastic sheets should be covered on the mortar, and then a central opening should be inserted into the grinding pestle before grinding. The amount of solid in the mortar should not exceed 1/3 of its volume.
3.The mortar should not be heated, especially agate products. Do not put them in the electric oven to dry.
4. When washing the mortar, it should be washed with water first. The a-cid-resistant mortar can be washed with dilute hydrochloric a-cid. When a hard-to-wash substance is attached to the mortar, a small amount of salt can be put into it and then washed after grinding. If the abrasive material is used to extract DNA or RNA, it is wrapped in tin paper and sterilized 180℃ in oven.
